I Wanna Play That! #4 Baffled by Trees and Machines
Over the years I have started up and then killed off a number of personal and professional blogs, whether tailored to a particular audience or simply an outpouring from my brain (such as it is) onto the internet. But there is one particular kind of article/post/thing that I always like to revive from blog to blog: a semi-regular round-up of cool, innovative, exciting games that I've found, and really, really want to play...
..and, speaking from experience, probably won't. The fact is that there are more games out there than there are hours in the day, or £££ in my bank account, and this has always struck me as very unfair and most likely a design oversight by God that somebody ought to rectify. But, when I win the lottery and retire to a Caribbean island, I will get round to playing All Of The Games, and these will be towards the top of my list.
This time around, we are looking at a couple of puzzle games...
Tengami
I was processing a business card from NyamNyam a few weeks ago, and the name tickled me. Nyam Nyam, sounds like a Japanese cat meow. Cute! So I looked them up in a bit more depth and the penny dropped. This is the lady who made Tengami!! Two Exclamation Marks!! I've got to play this.
Opus Magnum
At least I can articulate why I want to play Tengami. It's an Asian art themed puzzle game, and I like Asian art and puzzles. That's pretty straightforward. Why I want to play Magnum Opus is something I'm having more difficulty extemporizing. It looks hard as nails. This is a game for programmers who are bored of programming spaceships or supercomputers or something. Yet, some arrogant part of me wants to test my mettle against it, though the chances of failing miserably are almost certainly guaranteed!
